PetLock® Plus has two active ingredients: Fipronil and S-methoprene. Fipronil is a fast acting insecticide that kills the fleas on contact. S-Methoprene is an IGR (insect growth inhibitor) that prevents the flea eggs and larvae from developing into biting adults.
As PetLock® Plus is applied, it is absorbed and spread through the sebaceous glands throughout your pet’s skin. This takes between four and twelve hours depending on the size of the animal. Once these pesky parasites come in contact with PetLock® Plus, they will begin dying immediately.

Although fleas lay their eggs on your pet, they soon fall off of the animal and into your pet’s bedding, carpeting, beneath cushions on furniture, and any other areas your pet sleeps or has access. These flea eggs and larvae that are in your pet’s environment have not been killed with PetLock® Plus. It is important to treat those areas by heavy vacuuming (seal and throw away bags) and washing bedding in hot water. Flea traps, sprays, and cedar chips (fleas hate the smell) are other options. If you do not treat your pet’s environment, you will miss more than 90% of the developing flea population (eggs, larvae and pupae). See the life cycle of the flea.
