Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve been using Advantage® II on my pet, is PetLock® II just the same?

PetLock® II has the same active ingredients used in Advantage® II and will protect your pet from fleas and chewing lice. Cycle and controls fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae for up to three months.

How long does it take for PetLock® II to start killing fleas?

PetLock® II is a fast-acting solution. The product kills existing fleas within 12 hours. Reinfesting fleas are killed within 2 hours with protection against further flea infestations lasting for up to 4 weeks.

Is PetLock® II safe for puppies and pregnant dogs?

Do not use on puppies under 7 weeks of age or weighing less than 3 lbs. Make sure you have purchased the correct size for your dog’s weight. Consult your veterinarian before using this product on pregnant or nursing dogs.

I just applied PetLock® II, but I’m seeing more fleas on my dog than ever! Why?

As the fleas die, they rise to the top of your pet’s hair coat where they are more visible.  Be assured, PetLock® II is working!

Can I get my money back if PetLock® II does not work on my pet?

Yes, you can return the product to the retailer for a full refund.

Is PetLock® II Waterproof?

Yes. PetLock® II is waterproof and remains effective following swimming and/or shampooing, and after exposure to rain.

Will PetLock® II take care of all my flea problems?

No. In addition to applying PetLock® II to your pet, you should treat your pet’s environment. Although fleas lay their eggs on your pet, they soon fall off of the animal and into your pet’s bedding, carpeting, beneath cushions on furniture, and any other areas your pet sleeps or has access.  These flea eggs and larvae that are in your pet’s environment have not been killed with PetLock® II.  It is important to treat those areas by heavy vacuuming (seal and throw away bags) and washing bedding in hot water.  Flea traps, sprays, and cedar chips (fleas hate the smell) are other options.  If you do not treat your pet’s environment, you will miss more than 90% of the developing flea population (eggs, larvae and pupae).  See the life cycle of the flea.
